Jason nodded a little when Ruth asked him that. "Yes I did....I was informed that my skill set and Shadow would be a benefit to the site so I volunteered." he replied honestly while looking at her. He knew that there wasn't an entire unit posted on the Beta site, but given his background as an Army Ranger, he wasn't going to back down from a challenge. Granted it wasn't easy for him or Megan to leave their kids behind, but they did their best to stay in touch and be good parents to them. Jason took a sip of his drink after saying that to Ruth, Megan did the same. She had the same thoughts about being here that Jason did. "Anyway, tell us more about yourself." Jason said to Ruth after a few moments of silence. Megan nodded in agreement after setting her cup back down. |

Ruth nodded, taking another bite of chicken. The food was nowhere near as good as the SGC, but that was only to be expected. After all, they were only a step or two above those damn MREs here. "They mention to you what you'll be doing out here," she asked, her eyes curious. A dog handler seemed a strange person to bring out to the Beta site, so they must be sure he'd be needed for something. Clearly, it was going to be more than just a "third earth" sort of thing. She twitched up an eyebrow as Jason asked her to tell them more about herself. "Not much to tell, hon," she admitted, shrugging. "Baltimore born and raised, studied at Johns Hopkins, speak a few languages, and I've been at the SGC for about... three years, maybe a little more. I'm here on the offchance they find yet another obscure Goa'uld dialect, I guess." She chewed thoughtfully on another piece of chicken. "Left my partner behind at the SGC, but it's only for a few weeks, so it's not too bad." |

"From what I have been told my role is one of combat search and rescue and direct action." Jason replied honestly when asked what his role would be. Megan looked over when he said that, then back to Ruth. It wasn't lost on Jason that Megan worried when ever he went into combat, he couldn't blame her for it. They both knew that when ever he was called for a mission that it could be his last. At the same time, Jason did his best not the dwell on that. Jason nodded a little when Ruth told them about herself, as did Megan, who perked up when she heard where Ruth was from. "You're from Baltimore?, so am I" she replied. "I went though the Army ROTC wing at the University of Maryland before going to the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois." she replied honestly after setting her cup back down, having finished the water she had filled it with. |
