"Yes sir." Taft responded. He didn't super like the answer but that was no longer something he would spend time on, the General had set the rules and Taft was going to spontaneously produce victory within those terms. As soon as the General said dismissed Taft gave a quick salute and started organizing his people. He glanced in the direction of Fia, or where she had been, but not finding her there he went full on work mode. "Doc," he addressed Claire quickly. "You're taking these three marines and going to pick up any medical materials you require. They will hump it back down here and the rest of us will take it through the gate for you. Simmons, Jackson, Cole, escort the doctor on the double time, she needs to get back in time to gear up."

He looked over Tahirah and Caleb but had nothing specific for them, so he moved on after two quick nods to pass along his general approval that they do what they usually did.

He turned to Blake, he'd worked with her. "You pull two extra kits worth of your medic gear, we'll stuff them in our things. We are going to run out of materials before we run out of victims but I want that to take as long as possible." He turned to the gathering fire team. "Grab two mobile barriers and dozen sandbags to anchor them, two light machine guns, and come through that gate. Set up on the platform and hold." He looked around, making sure he'd gotten all the special orders he had in mind out of the way and then nodded to himself. "We have 18 minutes left, move." He turned and moved into the gateroom prep room and cleared out his pack to make space for the medical materials he'd hump through the gate for Blake and Claire, since he'd already quick garnered his usual field wear before reporting to Hammond's campfire speech.

Claire's only question would have been "why the fuck me", until it became clear that it was her primary specialty that was in need. Instead, as soon as the General dismissed the meeting, she headed briskly over to Taft. She'd had some dealings with the brusque Sergeant Major before, but had never worked with him.

"Sergeant," she said, nodding, her mouth set in a grim line. Claire glanced around at her other team members, sparing Caleb mere moments longer than the others. This was no time to let her feelings for him get in the way. At least she knew him well enough to know what to expect from him, but it was the others she had to put blind faith in.

She'd heard good things about Blake as a combat medic, and the few handovers Claire had picked up from her had been thorough and accurate. Taft... yeah. Post mission checkups with him were interesting, with banter and abuse flying freely between the two of them, but always with a smile. She hadn't had a huge amount of contact with Tahirah, though, so she could be the joker in the pack.

She nodded as Taft gave her some marines to help heft her kit. "Just wish I knew how many patients we were looking at," she said ruefully. The one thing Claire hated above all else was not being adequately prepared. It would be bad enough working in a field situation. Fortunately, she had been given basic field anaesthesia training, so wouldn't have to take an anaesthetist along.

Giving a quick nod again in acknowledgement to the rest of the team, Claire raced off to the infirmary to prep.

The buzz of going off world, with a possibility of potential threat and having to take action started to makes it why round Caleb's system. He had stood and listened to not only the Generals briefing, but also the orders that Taft gave out or rather lack there of orders. But he had heard what Taft was like, had heard along the grapevine of the Sergeant Major, Caleb had just never had the pleasure of working or really crossing paths with the Sergeant. But Caleb wasn't there to make good impressions, not when he fell into full on solider mode – which when going off world it required him to leave that easy laid back person behind – he was there to do a job and yes he was going to follow orders but he was also there to help.

Caleb caught Claire look at him, offered her a tight smile, if they wanted her off world in Tollana, then it was going to be bad. He didn't like to speculate what was going to be waiting for them on the other side of the wormhole, although a small part of him was intrigued to see Tollana. He was an engineer at heart, and he had always wondered what engineering feats the Tollans had done. He would have offered to go to the infirmary with her and also carry more back, but well that weren't the orders, actually he hadn't been given any orders.

Having actually been as ready as anything when the first call came through, Caleb didn't have to actually sort anything for himself out. He nodded at Taft as the Sergeant walked off, of this was going to be an interesting mission, he offered a smile at Tahirah as well, when she joined them. He hadn't seen her around in the last few weeks, “Not exactly the circumstances, wanted to be meeting up again in eh,” he said to her.

He was very aware of who was on the team, the fact he'd slept with two of them was going to mean he was going to have to prove himself slightly that he was just more than his reputation. That anything he was doing with any other personnel was not going to interfere with his work. He decided that instead of standing there, he moved to help out the fire team that Taft wanted, an extra pair of hands couldn't help right?

When the dismissal had gone out, Elvria had turned to leave, she hadn't been assigned to a team and she could not offer an help whilst stood in the Gateroom. When someone came over to her, she was pleased to note it was Fia, she enjoyed talking with the woman the other night, even if Parnell did grumble about not knowing her well enough to trust her. Elvria was use to hearing that grumble at the back of her mind.

Everyone around her seemed to go into action, and she had move a couple of spaces as people walked past her, “I have a few minutes to spare, of course,” she answered, not that she was in any hurry to get anywhere. But whatever Fia had to say, looked to be important, she knew the look the military of the Tau'ri wore, saw it in the eyes – it was a look that most Tok'ra soldiers had as well – so she was willing to give as much time to Fia as was needed.

Fia's expression softened slightly as she watched the young woman try to stay out of the way. They are going to need to clear the gate room. Walk with me? Though really with the flow of people, a leisurely walk was not an option. She dived into the opening left by a rushing medic and three marines. Skirting around the second team gathering by the door, she soon found herself out in the hallway. Of all the out of the way places she could think about, the mess was more likely the closest. Fia stepped of to one side, glancing back to see if Elvria was still there.

Elvria managed to just keep up with Fia, sometimes just sometimes her short stature was a disadvantage and when people were moving around as quickly as what everyone currently was. Sometimes she got slightly overlooked or on the odd occasion walked into.

Stepping out into the corridor, it was quieter out there although there was still people rushing around, it was like the Tau'ri had left the panic back in the Gateroom. The air seemed less tense out here, something that not only settled herself down but Parnell as well.

“Of course,” she replied falling into step with Fia.

It was far less crowded outside the gate room, and Fia was able to slow her pace. Not the she didn't think Elvria would keep up. Walking slower gave her an opportunity to pay better attention to her surroundings. While she was better trained to notice discrepancies in various forms of wilderness, the basic train of thought could work in any environment. If there was indeed an alien lose on base, she wanted it or them found. What she was lacking was information. I know there are things you can't tell me, Elvria. So I am asking you to tell me everything you can about the Tollans, and whatever technology these non-furlings could have used to slip through our gate security unseen. The more I know the better I can assess the situation. Maybe figure out a way to see them. By then they had reached the Mess hall doors. Pushing one open, she held it for Elvria to enter.

((You want to Pick this up in the mess, Joulez? Not sure if we start the new thread or if Anni does.))

Before Jake could reply to Ruth's ribbing, the General started his briefing.

...This was bad. This was very bad. Not being assigned to a team, Jake knew he was going to be staying on base as support in the infirmary. After Gen. Hammond dismissed the room, he turned to Ruth and told her, "Be careful. I'll be in the infirmary if you need me.". He quickly and discretely took her hand in his and gave it a small squeeze.

Without waiting for a reply, he turned towards the corridor. He saw Sophie leave ahead of him and hurried after her. Maybe he could assist in readying the medical equipment she would need off-world.

Ruth's eyes widened as the General talked them through what had potentially happened. "God," she muttered, fear settling in a cold knot in her stomach. If they weren't even able to see their apparent enemy, how would they be able to fight them? Not that she was a fighter, not really. Sure, she'd passed her firearms courses, and some basic self defence classes, but Would feel much more comfortable in the presence of a few military.

Speaking of the devil, Ruth felt Jake's hand slide into hers, squeezing briefly. She squeezed back, giving him a brief smile as he told her to be careful. Now didn't seem like the time to throw him a flirty remark about where he was going to be if she needed him, but he was gone before she had a chance. If things didn't get too out of hand later, maybe she'd pop down to see him, take him a coffee or something to eat. He really didn't look after himself.

Talking of food...

Ruth's stomach grumbled. Sure, she might have a translation to work on, but she couldn't do that on an empty stomach. Mess hall first, then maybe take a coffee to Jake, and a sandwich back to her lab.
