Daniel's come a long way from the gawky archaeologist that all the military types looked down upon. He proved his mettle on the first-ever Stargate mission and helped defeat the System Lord Ra. Since then, he's been around and related to a few victories against the Goa'uld... A lot of them. I suppose it might be impressive if anyone is likely to be impressed by that sort of thing... But really! He's just an inquisitive soul who wants nothing more than to liberate the galaxy from the clutches of a far more advanced enemy that is technically immortal and worshiped as gods. No biggie.

Friends: Generally a friendly guy--when his nose isn't buried in a few of far too many huge/dusty reference books, or maybe the latest tablet inscription, or off-world--he has no qualms about getting to know people and learn their life's story. He's far less comfortable talking about himself, to the point that sometimes he doesn't quite manage to introduce himself before plunging into an interesting topic of conversation one mile a minute. What might seem like "trust issues" is really just his cautious way of navigating a social environment where he's been the outcast far too often.

Enemies: Are you a Goa'uld? Mass murderer? Ruthless leader of a people bent on the subjugation or destruction of another race? Then you're probably not immediately his enemy. He's far less naive than he used to be and now understands that no matter the glorious history and wondrous technological advancements of a people, there is still the potential of thoughtless evil.

Lovers: Noooope, nope, nope, nope. Not yet. He'll be uncomfortable as hell and back away slowly, stammering excuses if you even attempt to flirt. Too soon. If you're interested, take it sloooooooow and get him to warm up to you first. Maybe excavate an alien ruin or two before you even decide to smile seductively and bat those eyelashes. Sorry. Also, refer to the entry for "Enemies" above. Why do ancient alien beings insist on seducing him (or Jack) as part of their plot for world domination. Go away, Hathor.

I promise it will be a cold day in hell before Taft flirts with him... but he'll totally step in with Hathor if she's too much for Daniel! :D

Well, if he's been injured/suffering from allergies etc etc etc over the last year, he'll definitely have met Claire. Hell, in post mission check-ups, he'll likely have met her. Just because she's a surgeon doesn't mean she's not prepared to get her hands dirty with general infirmary work.

She's easy going, friendly, and has a dry and often caustic wit. However, she's a good listener, and knows when to shut up. I can't see these two being enemies, certainly, and, seeing as Claire's not looking for a relationship either, I think that leaves "friends", if that's okay with you?

Hi

Fellow Geek and civilian - How ya doing :)

Sophie has probably heard of him to be honest - She likes to watch people, it passes the time, and is often stuck with her own nose in a book. Not so sure I can see them running into each other in terms of collaboration - There isnt much cross over between Pathological Sciences and an Archeology.

She is so beyond the potential for relationship material it means we can exclude that, which suits everyone just fine :p

I cant see the two of them being enemies - I cant see them being instantly friends either [As neither seem the sort to actively go forth and socialise] - Its going to be fun seeing how it pans out.

Hello and Welcome

Straight of the bat I reckon that Mere is going to have a great deal of respect for Jackson. He's proven himself over and over again, and worked hard to earn that respect. There's the potential for a little awe struck appretiation there. *cue some mild hero worship*

She is incredibly friendly and would be the first to extend the offer to join her and the guys for a drink, or a hand or two of poker [She might even let you win]

She hasnt considered a career as a mass murderer, or evil overlord, so I cant see him hating her instantly on that front.

You can rest easy that she isnt gunning to be in your pants

How do feel he would react to someone who is obviously impressed by what he has done? Would he be put off if she were to approach him and point out that he is relatively awesome?

I think James and Daniel would get along well, except for James' long-held and once very strong belief that there definitely no way that aliens had contacted ancient civilizations. I could James being a bit upset that he was wrong, and corning Daniel to try and get caught up with what had actually happened. James considers himself a scientist, and while his hypothesis may have been smashed and his worldview upended, he would want to correct his facts ASAP and realign himself with the truth.

I could also see them consulting each other and working with one another on various projects and research while on base.

Thoughts?

@ Taft: Oh god, why whyyyyy. We have started something that cannot be contained nor managed. It will consume the world... J/k.

@ Claire: I see them having an easy acquaintance-thing, bordering on actual friendship... Which we could get into with role play. Maybe something about families? Jackson has a soft spot for everyone's family (because he didn't really have one and well... You know what's been happening). Let's RP that? Maybe some minor crisis he asks her about and they talk about it later?

@ Sophie: There has got to be a mission Jackson was on that included pathogens. Sophie got involved and they worked together. Okay, scratch that. The tons of times SG1 has brushed up against pathogens is astounding, as far as episodes go. lol There's plenty of reason for them to know each other by now, then. Heyyyy, how about we tie this up with what's happening to Price and have a nice lil thread?

@ Mere: Haha, hero worship. Cue awkwardness. I love it already and all I can say is, bring on the threads! lol The nonsexual vibe would help, too.

@ James: In fact, I was thinking that Jackson is sent to "evaluate" his comparability with the SG program and to give James an orientation about things. We could have a thread where he takes James off-world (maybe to the alpha site, to prove things are real) and shows him around some. Jackson would love having a second seasoned archeo in the program that he can send around to do all the actual digs. I'm sure he feels stretched too thin and lately he just ends up doing mostly ground surveys, translations and item analysis. At best. Honestly, most of the time he's just a glorified linguist. lol

Sounds good to me. Claire mises her family something fierce, and, as the Māori have a thing for extended family (whānau), she could well be looking to create the same kind of thing where she's currently living, even if it is just trying to develop close friendships. The Māori have a tendency to feel at ease enough to share their problems, but there has to be a level of trust involved, and both Claire and Daniel seem to have that vibe. Maybe a possibility?
