Relatively new to the S.G.C, Sophie Edwards has been brought in following her discovery of the Ancient Gene [The gene itself had already been discovered - She simply stumbled upon it in an unrelated civilian research project]. Her main focus prior to joining had been exploring the biochemical reactions of the post mortem brain stem.
Offered the chance to head her own reasearch team at the S.G.C, Sophie now works alongside other teams within the Biochemical Field. Her specialisation of "Pathological Biochemistry" leaves her with a wide variety of projects. Ranging from mundane testing, to study of some new and interesting "ailments and diseases" that seem to affect those have returned from trips through the gate, Sophie has already taken an interest in a case or two in the few short weeks she's been on base. Needless to say, she'll be keeping busy.
Friends: Generally friendly, but not the most sociable of people. Sophie suffers from a near obsessive determination, getting caught up in work, or buried in a text book when trying to get to the bottom of something. If approached she will make an effort to be attentive, and when away from anything partiularly absorbing she almost becomes a new person.
Lovers: She isnt actively looking for or available for romanctic altercations. Widowed relatively recently [3yrs prior to joining S.G.C] she is still tender in regards to the notion of love. Both her engagement and wedding band are worn on a chain around her neck and she does tend to fiddle with them when upset, anxious or bored.
Enemies: I'd like to say she doesnt have any being new, not only to the base but also to America. She does have a temper however, and despite efforts to be courteous and civil, her buttons can only be pushed so much. She will let loose with a sarcastic remark and can be quite sharp tongued when provoked. Stubborn to apologise, she will make efforts to repair bridges if she's at fault, but she'll often need to take a step back to calm down and process an incident before determining culpability.
Where will you find me? Most often lurking down in the labs, Sophie has repurposed an annexed space for use as an office. It isnt much but armed with a comfy chair and a coffee pot it is a refuge to escape to when some peace and quiet is needed to work.
When not working she does try to get out and about. An avid climber she has been itching to get off base and explore some of the climbing spots around Colorado Springs. Not adverse to being alone, but preferring to do it iamongst people, she can also be found with a cup of coffee, reading or watching the world go by.
