Just realized I had never made one of these for Jake. Oops.

Jake grew up in Virginia, on the Eastern Shore in a very conservative family. He was academically focused and excelled without really having to try. He attended JHU for undergrad in Biomedical Engineering with a Linguistics Minor, and speak Spanish, French, and Germany pretty well. He continued at JHU for med school, then landed a residency at the Harvard Teaching Hospital for Emergency Med. He did a year with Doctors without Borders in Africa, then joined the USAF for an Emergency Med Fellowship. Afterwards, he was stationed at the Air Force Academy Hospital in Colorado Springs, where he worked for a two years before meeting Dr. Janet Fraiser. She offered him a transfer to the SGC. He's been at SGC since 2012, working shifts in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit. He still takes occasional shifts at the AF Academy Hospital. He has been offworld several times for humanitarian care missions.

Despite being a Captain in the USAF, he cares little for rank in social situations or medical situations. He views social situations as removed from the military command structure and in medical situations, he views himself as the top dog, answering only to his command superiors. His attitude in medical situations was drilled into him in residency, and he does whatever needs to be done to keep everyone alive.

In his time off, he enjoys reading medical journals, taking extra shifts, and occasionally going out for a good beer. He mainly likes craft and European beers, so he favors microbreweries and specialty beer bars. He is a known work-a-holic, and regularly works 12-16 hours straight.

If anyone has been seriously injured on a mission in the past two years, there is a good chance that Jake either treated them personally or read the case report afterwards.

Friends: He is pretty friendly, although often quiet in social situations around people he doesn't know. He has a tendency to be flirty with women he knows well (like Ruth, who he has known since undergrad). He has no prejudice concerning officer/enlisted or military/civilian.

Enemies: Jake has made enemies in the past in the workplace, due to his diligence and rigorous work schedule. He was always an overachiever, and holds those he works with to a high standard. Outside of the ER/ICU, he is very mild mannered.

Lovers: Jake has struggled to keep relationships in the past. He is married to his work, and every past relationship he has had has broken down due to the amount he works. He can be very flirty with women he knows well, but tends to be very quiet until he gets to know them. Because he is rarely outside of the hospital, most of his relationships after med school have been with the only people he has regular interaction with: other medical providers. He hasn't been involved with anyone since he started at the SGC.

Well, I think we've established a history with Ruth and Jake, don't you?? She's likely to be his staunchest ally, and be there for him, no matter what, whether it's a kick up the ass, or a shoulder to cry on. Ruth's probably been out on a handful of dates since joining the SGC 18 months ago, but nothing else, and she'd likely have laughed about them with Jake over coffee, if nothing else. Anything else spring to mind for them?

Then we have Claire, an emergency surgeon who has been at the SGC for about a year. Friendly and approachable, she has a wicked sense of humour, but doesn't suffer fools gladly. She's had a crappy history with relationships, and has been single since before going to the SGC. She doesn't really see the need for that to change, either. Claire also doesn't particularly care about rank or protocol, preferring just to get the lives saved, and then sort any politics out afterwards. I could certainly see then two of them being friendly.

Yeah, Jake and Ruth seem to have a history and relationship already established. They are definitely close, and I could see that possibly moving into an informal dating situation. Probably nothing serious, but who knows.

Jake and Claire would have definitely worked together in the past. I could see them getting along well both in the infirmary and outside of it. I could see them talking and joking in the privacy of their offices to help blow off steam and the built-up stress from long and difficult shifts.

I guess we just see what happens with Ruth and Jake - if nothing else, I think they have a great friendship there, and the kind that would withstand any sort of romantic "intervention", for want of a better word. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

As for Claire, yup, I think your assessment of things is likely right. She's too level-headed and down to earth to not want to get on with her colleagues, and would have no issues with socialising outside of work as well.
